The Giga Enterteinment Project "Qiddiya" launched!
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz, launched Qiddiya on April the 28 th, 2018.
Qiddiya is the first of its kind entertainment, sports and cultural destination planned for Saudi Arabia's capital Riyadh, spread in an area of 334 square kilometers.
It is the project's first phase of development planned to be completed in 2022. Qiddiya will be located 40 kilometers west of the Saudi capital, Riyadh. The Ground-breaking Ceremony was conducted in the presence of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, as well as several Princes and Ministers and an audience of 300 dignitaries from around the world.
The CEO of Qiddiya, Micheal Reininger, stated that "Qiddiya will create a self-sustaining ecosystem, based on five cornerstones: parks and attractions; motion and mobility; nature and environment; sports and wellness; culture, arts and education". The Secretary General of this project, Dr. Fahd bin Abdullah Tounsi, stated that this initiative will be helpful in order to achieve direct and indirect economic returns and also to the growth of Saudi tourism, which will led a vast majority of the population have a job in the field, thanks to many sport, cultural and historic activities and the opening of various hotels, cafes and restaurants.
- Al Qiddiya logo is inspired by the mountains of Tuwaiq, the unique mountainous area that overlook this expansive project. The lines in the logo reflect the promising abilities of Saudi youth, while the vital range of colors shows that the project addresses all the different aspects of Saudi society with its different capacities and talents.
- The development area of Qiddiya will be twice and half the size of Walt Disney World and 100 times the size of Central Park NYC. Qiddya Enterteinment City will feature on an escarpment, 300m above the valley.
